Comment on My Trip To A Mountain Today (My Thoughts On Brokeback)

I really appreciated the movie myself, and the realization that we really are the same when it comes to the big things in life like love and hope, and the longing for it; Mountains symbolize a lot of things, in the Bible it was something to be moved, here- even in this time, proving needs is like moving a mountain (or naming one). Maybe it's meant to stay a place in the heart anyway. Sure would be a nice tribute to the idea of love and hope; maybe someone's personal reality not yet recognized by others. For sure the movie is that already.
Nice to know that someone felt that strongly, like I did when I watched it.... Best of Luck

Dear John'
The foto of Brokeback, Vermont is not what I had imagined Brokeback, VT to be. I thought perhaps a pointed peak or two that could possibly be covered with snow in the winter. I realize we don't have very high peaked mts. on the east coast, but....Know what I mean? I want to thank you for all you're doing in finding a mountain. I am sure there are others out there who fel the same. I am (have been) married for 51 years to the same woman. I loved the short story by Annie Proulx and the movie. My wife thought it was so-so. Sorry that the Academy did not do right by the movie in awarding best actor, supoorting actor & actress to the people who RALLY deserved it. Keep up the good work. Try to get a camping date a little more in aadvance (time-wise).

I saw the movie twice and I loved it very much ,as well as my lover.
Please go on with your fantastic project. I would like to visit it once it is on place.

I am will be in touch through the mail, when I can, I am very much interested in this project, as it means so very much to me and my partner. My heart feels this every time I hear Brokeback Mountain. I loved the short story and the movie. It is with me all the time. Our story is very similar, we spent 25 years knowing each other, now we are together. I will be eternally grateful for the what this story has made me feel about our relationship, and there is a "BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN" in Vermont.

John....let that be a lesson to you! Call ahead! Too bad you missed out on a meeting with the land-owner. Hope you can reschedule soon. I promise not to keep you on the forum so long on the next scheduled trip's day!

Nice mountain, nice "high point" standing separate from the surrounding peaks. Good long view too it seems.

So this land-owner is aware that in naming this mountain, it will also draw some hikers and visitors, who will then be crossing and on the private property. Hope the land-owner understands this and will allow it.

Look forward to more updates here and there at the forum.

John I think it is just a great idea. If I didn't live in Southern New Jersey and work a lot of hours I would rush up up to help you. I see a lot of Signatures on the petition from people in Vermont.
